Frederick County, Virginia had an 11 acre recreational area with a playground and basketball court but not much else. Although Frederick Heights Park was conveniently placed in a neighborhood, there was no parking or accessible route to the existing amenities. That’s when Frederick County Parks and Recreation got to planning! Community surveys showed the most requested amenity was to have more multi-use trails. The Frederick Heights Park was a underdeveloped and underutilized park with plenty of potential. The perfect fit!
Coming soon to Frederick County is an upgraded Frederick Heights Park! The Outdoor Happiness Movement is excited to join the Frederick County Parks and Recreation and community efforts to provide the park with a 1/2 mile looped walking path and parking lot. Once completed, visitors can park their cars, leisurely walk along rolling hills, stop by the playground, play a few rounds of basketball, and enjoy a nice day at the park.
