Bismarck Parks and Recreation works hard to provide their residents with innovative, relevant and stimulating parks like Watcher Park. In fact, they won the 2017 Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management! Outdoor Happiness Movement is joining Bismark Parks and Rec to build a fully inclusive, sensory playground, specifically designed for children with visual, auditory and/or sensory disabilities. Since integrating sensory therapy into a playground requires more knowledge about those with the disability, design input from the local children’s hospital manager and other pediatric therapists was provided to be sure the equipment would be beneficial. The play area will be part of a larger existing area called Magical Moments.
So when children with sensory disabilities visit park and join other children playing, they will be invited to play with their senses and enjoy a nice day outside!Take the OH! Pledge
