In Montana, the community of Columbus wants to expand their existing Granite Peak Park. Currently, Granite Peak Park has soccer, softball, and baseball fields plus a community garden. It’s already a great place for kids to get outside and be active! However, when sporting events being held, children not participating are left without area to play. No longer! Plans are for a community designed and built playground. On September 23rd 2017, the Columbus Community Foundation steering team hosted a “Design Day” where the community could speak to the playground’s designer and let them know what they wanted in the new playground. Playhouse, benches, monkey bars, a seesaw, swings, slides, and more! Those ideas became reality and the Granite Peak Park Playground was born! This custom designed playground will be built by community volunteers and 100% of fundraising dollars go to the playground.
Once built, this new innovative playground will be seen from the interstate, welcoming residents and non-residents to the town.
